Started working on the speaker build. Although i had done the CAD for cutting on the CNC machine, i decided to cut out on the circular saw.
After tweaking the saw to cut square, cut out the pieces using the same setting where possible. Plus some spares.
Firstly, i need to work out the CAD for insetting the speaker into the plywood….why they can’t add this info to the baffle cut out info, i don’t know!
Got there with a bit of fiddling in Rhino. Test cut on the Laser to check fit, then onto the CNC machine. Accurately set the CNC offsets square, so the piece can be turned over. Cut the front bits, with a rebate on the back, rather than a chamfer.
Then onto gluing. As this is a second go, i had a much better idea of how to glue the panels together. Made a gluing jig with a cam and back fence to make it easier to hold, than g-clamps. As ever, despite trying to be accurate, slight errors accumulate, and there seems to be a difference in width across on the ports. Might need to glue the sides on first, before the base.
I think, for the third attempt, i need to add some rebates and grooves to hold some of the parts exactly in place.
yes, i know, only few minutes since the last post, but, i have been down to reception to check.
Fuck, why do i feel so down atm? I don’t seem to be able to actually get anything done towards getting out of present circs.
I’m probably institutionalised by life at EC now. The massive hit of getting practical work done takes most of the creative energy, but i can’t seem to break the cycle of non-acheivement. Ok, so try and use the blog to write and record and see what i actually manage to do. Think positive. Bollocks.
admire 3d printer for £1500. Look at YouTube Vid and notice that someone claims to have made the purchase price back in a few months. Ok, lets see (later) if that is possible.
All I need is a cracking design, 3d printer and off we go. in my dreams.
Back to speakers. Have done the CAD to cut them out accurately, just need driver to get the outer shape done.
These better sound radically better than the cheap visatons in at the moment or i’m going to be annoyed.
Listened to Gravenhurst this morning…detected a note of distinct boominess on the bass….wonder if high end hifi is pretty much bollocks like wine, and reach for the earbuds.
I have decided to make the best desktop speakers….
